Favorite Early Memories

Francine

At age 12, I came in 2nd place in a blueberry pie eating contest (with my hands behind my back).

Barry G

I would sing really loud with my mouth in a pillow so nobody could hear me.

Maestro C

I made a house out of toothpicks (I learned that from my uncle who made a replica of the 1964 World Fair).

Frankie Lee

I heard a Ray Charles song when I was 10 years old and it made me cry. It was called, "You don't know me".

Erin the Red

I remember driving up to Illinois with my dad and my sister to visit my Grandma Hill, and on the way Dad would tell us stories and then I'd get him to ask me questions, so I learned about all sorts of things like: 'How many miles from the earth to the sun?" 93 million miles!!!

The Band Loves to...

Francine

I love to dream and daydream, to imagine and pretend.

Barry G

I love to be funny in a goofy way, especially around my kids (twins). I make funny faces.

Maestro C

I love to feed the birds and watch them eat from the bird feeders.

Frankie Lee

I love to walk 10 miles every day.

Erin the Red

I love to read old science fiction stories from the 50's and 60's.

The Band Remembers When...

Francine

I would sing, sing, sing in front of my fireplace and pretend my hairbrush was my microphone.

Barry G

I would watch the moon follow me around, especially in the car at night when driving from my grandmother's house to my house.

Frankie Lee

I loved to read so I would disappear into a book.

Maestro C

I loved to pick up my toy guitar, play Beatles records and pretend I was in their band.

Erin the Red

My cousins and my sister and I would put on shows at Christmas for everybody. One year I wrote us a version of this Twilight Zone episode called "Night of the Meek." And sometimes in the summer, we'd put on a magic show.

If I Were an Animal...

Francine

I would love to be a fish that swims the waters of the earth and sees the creatures of the sea.

Barry G

I would like to be a wild horse so I could gallop really fast along the beaches.

Frankie Lee

I would like to be a cat because they're quiet and know a lot of things.

Maestro C

I would like be like my cow, who lives with my family and takes us everywhere. He lets us ride him when our car won't go. And we love him because he goes real slow.

Willie

I would like to be a dolphin because dolphins swim and play together and always seem to have a smile on their face.

Erin the Red

I would be my puppy dog MacLeod 'cause I think he's the cutest and the smartest and the most beautiful animal in the whole world.

My Favorite Nursery Rhyme is...

Francine

Twinkle tinkle little star---it's true--it's such a favorite because it's all about dreams and looking into the sky for the answers and stars make it all worth while. Wondering and dreaming and hoping is what makes life so beautiful.

Barry G

Old Mother Hubbard because she had so many kids.

Frankie Lee

"Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat and the Fiddle….." I loved to imagine a cow jumping over the moon, and the idea of table settings running around was also quite novel.

Maestro C

Humpty Dumpty because he always got back up after he fell down.

Willie

"Yellow Submarine" (by The Beatles). I like the way it sounds like they're having a party with all their friends laughing and singing all together.

Erin the Red

"My candle burns at both ends;
it will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends --
it gives a lovely light!"
My Grandma Hill used to say this to me when I was little, so I remember it as a nursery rhyme. She grew up in the 1920's, when this was written by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Francine

A Carrot Seed because he believes in a dream even when no one else does.

Barry G

Green Eggs and Ham because

Maestro C

A book I wrote myself called, The Balloon Ride, about the island of Dream Jam and the balloon that took us there.

Erin the Red

Ireland someday 'cause I'm half Irish; I'd like to find some fairies and leprechauns there and play my harp for them. I'd also like to go into outer space and be in Starfleet and visit strange new worlds…

My Favorite Food is...

Gnocchi (Italian potato dumplings) because every Sunday my grandmother made it for us with her special "tomato gravy."

What My Favorite Color Means to Me...

Francine: Multi-colored

All the colors. OK. I love pink a little more than the other colors-but just a little more…like I like cotton candy a little more than ice cream-but just a little!!

Barry G: Orange

I like the harvest moon, the sun, orange sherbet, carrots, orange marmalade, my orange bike, orange dreamsicles.

Frankie Lee: Green

Green is the color of the sea, which I like to sail; of apples, which I like to eat; and of money, which I like to spend!!

Maestro C: Purple

I love the purple flowers in my garden. When I look at the sky, I imagine all the clouds are purple.

Willie: Red

I like the color red because it's the color of heart and passion. For me it means having heart and caring about people and having compassion and understanding for others.

Erin the Red: Green

My favorite color has always been green. When I had piano lessons when I was little, I got to pick what color star I wanted to put on a piece after I'd learned it, and I always picked green. Plus, my eyes are green, just like my mom's and my Grandma Cummins's eyes, plus all the trees and nature are beautiful and green.
