Favorite Early Memories

Francine

At age 12, I came in 2nd place in a blueberry pie eating contest (with my hands behind my back).

Barry G

I would sing really loud with my mouth in a pillow so nobody could hear me.

Maestro C

I made a house out of toothpicks (I learned that from my uncle who made a replica of the 1964 World Fair).

Erin the Red

I remember driving up to Illinois with my dad and my sister to visit my Grandma Hill, and on the way Dad would tell us stories and then I'd get him to ask me questions, so I learned about all sorts of things like: 'How many miles from the earth to the sun?" 93 million miles!!!

Ramblin' Davey

I remember fishing with my big brother in the canal behind our house. We would use hot dogs for bait and we caught lots of eels. Eels must really like hot dogs.

The Band Loves to...

Francine

I love to dream and daydream, to imagine and pretend.

Barry G

I love to be funny in a goofy way, especially around my kids (twins). I make funny faces.

Maestro C

I love to feed the birds and watch them eat from the bird feeders.

Erin the Red

I love to read old science fiction stories from the 50's and 60's.

Ramblin' Davey

I love to go hiking with my friends. It's fun to walk and talk and just be free.

The Band Remembers When...

Francine

I would sing, sing, sing in front of my fireplace and pretend my hairbrush was my microphone.

Barry G

I would watch the moon follow me around, especially in the car at night when driving from my grandmother's house to my house.

Maestro C

I loved to pick up my toy guitar, play Beatles records and pretend I was in their band.

Erin the Red

My cousins and my sister and I would put on shows at Christmas for everybody. One year I wrote us a version of this Twilight Zone episode called "Night of the Meek." And sometimes in the summer, we'd put on a magic show.

Ramblin' Davey

I remember spending long summer days with my mom at the barn where she kept her horse. I'd ride a little bit, but most of the time I spent just kicking rocks and watching the clouds roll by. Nice!

If I Were an Animal...

Francine

I would love to be a fish that swims the waters of the earth and sees the creatures of the sea.

Barry G

I would like to be a wild horse so I could gallop really fast along the beaches.

Maestro C

I would like be like my cow, who lives with my family and takes us everywhere. He lets us ride him when our car won't go. And we love him because he goes real slow.

Erin the Red

I would be my puppy dog MacLeod 'cause I think he's the cutest and the smartest and the most beautiful animal in the whole world.

Ramblin' Davey

I'd like to be an elephant. Elephants are big and strong enough to protect themselves, but also vegetarians, so I wouldn't have to eat anybody.

My Favorite Nursery Rhyme is...

Francine

Twinkle tinkle little star---it's true--it's such a favorite because it's all about dreams and looking into the sky for the answers and stars make it all worth while. Wondering and dreaming and hoping is what makes life so beautiful.

Barry G

Old Mother Hubbard because she had so many kids.

Maestro C

Humpty Dumpty because he always got back up after he fell down.

Erin the Red

"My candle burns at both ends;
it will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends --
it gives a lovely light!"
My Grandma Hill used to say this to me when I was little, so I remember it as a nursery rhyme. She grew up in the 1920's, when this was written by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Ramblin' Davey

is This Little Piggy. He went wee wee wee all the way home!

My Favorite Children's Book is...

Francine

A Carrot Seed because he believes in a dream even when no one else does.

Barry G

Green Eggs and Ham because

Maestro C

A book I wrote myself called, The Balloon Ride, about the island of Dream Jam and the balloon that took us there.

Erin the Red

"Bread and Jam for Frances." Frances is a Badger, and she brings a hard-boiled egg to lunch. I also really like this book Stinky Monster that I made up myself :)

Ramblin' Davey

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." What a fantastic adventure Charlie and Grandpa Joe go on!

I Would Like to Travel to...

Maestro C

Hawaii, 'cause it's magical and has volcanoes.

Barry

I'd like to visit the moon.

Francine

I have always wanted to travel to the stars so I could look at all the world from there and see all the people I love.

Erin the Red

Ireland someday 'cause I'm half Irish; I'd like to find some fairies and leprechauns there and play my harp for them. I'd also like to go into outer space and be in Starfleet and visit strange new worlds.

Ramblin' Davey

Cloud 9. Do you know that expression? "I am so happy! I am on Cloud 9!" Now that sounds like a great place to visit!

My Favorite Food is...

Francine

Gnocchi (Italian potato dumplings) because every Sunday my grandmother made it for us with her special "tomato gravy."

Barry G

Strawberry shortcake because my grandmother has the same birthday as me and every year we would share our birthday cake (strawberry shortcake).

Maestro C

Ice cream because it's fun and you can put different toppings on like whipped cream, fudge, strawberries.

Erin the Red

Every food I ever met!! I love all foods!!! Top Ten are: rhubarb pie, corn on the cob, pumpkin blossoms, peanut butter, vanilla ice cream, barbeque, bacon-cheese-and-tomato sandwiches, Irish soda bread, raspberries, and hot fudge.

Ramblin' Davey

Tacos! I love to eat tacos with a hard, crunchy shell. I like to get real messy and have the sauce dripping to my elbows. No fork, no knives. Just me, my hands and my tacos!

What My Favorite Color Means to Me...

Francine: Multi-colored

All the colors. OK. I love pink a little more than the other colors-but just a little more.like I like cotton candy a little more than ice cream-but just a little!!

Barry G: Orange

I like the harvest moon, the sun, orange sherbet, carrots, orange marmalade, my orange bike, orange dreamsicles.

Maestro C: Purple

I love the purple flowers in my garden. When I look at the sky, I imagine all the clouds are purple.

Erin the Red: Green

My favorite color has always been green. When I had piano lessons when I was little, I got to pick what color star I wanted to put on a piece after I'd learned it, and I always picked green. Plus, my eyes are green, just like my mom's and my Grandma Cummins's eyes, plus all the trees and nature are beautiful and green.

Ramblin' Davey

My favorite color is red. When I put on my red cowboy boots it means it's time to rock!
