Favorite Early Memories
FrancineAt age 12, I came in 2nd place in a blueberry pie eating contest (with my hands behind my back).
Barry GI would sing really loud with my mouth in a pillow so nobody could hear me.
Maestro CI made a house out of toothpicks (I learned that from my uncle who made a replica of the 1964 World Fair).
Erin the Red
I remember driving up to Illinois with my dad and my sister to visit my Grandma Hill, and on the way Dad would tell us stories and then I'd get him to ask me questions, so I learned about all sorts of things like: 'How many miles from the earth to the sun?" 93 million miles!!!
I remember fishing with my big brother in the canal behind our house. We would use hot dogs for bait and we caught lots of eels. Eels must really like hot dogs.
The Band Loves to...
FrancineI love to dream and daydream, to imagine and pretend.
Barry GI love to be funny in a goofy way, especially around my kids (twins). I make funny faces.
Maestro CI love to feed the birds and watch them eat from the bird feeders.
Erin the RedI love to read old science fiction stories from the 50's and 60's.
Ramblin' DaveyI love to go hiking with my friends. It's fun to walk and talk and just be free.
The Band Remembers When...
FrancineI would sing, sing, sing in front of my fireplace and pretend my hairbrush was my microphone.
Barry GI would watch the moon follow me around, especially in the car at night when driving from my grandmother's house to my house.
Maestro CI loved to pick up my toy guitar, play Beatles records and pretend I was in their band.
Erin the RedMy cousins and my sister and I would put on shows at Christmas for everybody. One year I wrote us a version of this Twilight Zone episode called "Night of the Meek." And sometimes in the summer, we'd put on a magic show.
Ramblin' DaveyI remember spending long summer days with my mom at the barn where she kept her horse. I'd ride a little bit, but most of the time I spent just kicking rocks and watching the clouds roll by. Nice!
If I Were an Animal...
FrancineI would love to be a fish that swims the waters of the earth and sees the creatures of the sea.
Barry GI would like to be a wild horse so I could gallop really fast along the beaches.
Maestro CI would like be like my cow, who lives with my family and takes us everywhere. He lets us ride him when our car won't go. And we love him because he goes real slow.
Erin the RedI would be my puppy dog MacLeod 'cause I think he's the cutest and the smartest and the most beautiful animal in the whole world.
Ramblin' DaveyI'd like to be an elephant. Elephants are big and strong enough to protect themselves, but also vegetarians, so I wouldn't have to eat anybody.
My Favorite Nursery Rhyme is...
FrancineTwinkle tinkle little star---it's true--it's such a favorite because it's all about dreams and looking into the sky for the answers and stars make it all worth while. Wondering and dreaming and hoping is what makes life so beautiful.
Barry GOld Mother Hubbard because she had so many kids.
Maestro CHumpty Dumpty because he always got back up after he fell down.
Erin the Red"My candle burns at both ends;
it will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends --
it gives a lovely light!"
My Grandma Hill used to say this to me when I was little, so I remember it as a nursery rhyme. She grew up in the 1920's, when this was written by Edna St. Vincent Millay.
